‘Swello, How are you?’ Actually, I do not really know how to use that word. The only thing that I know is that I love saying it!  Minnesota-based group THE SOUNDHEADS are out with their debut album ‘SWELLO’. After listening to and contemplating over this album, it’s evident to me that The Soundheads successfully demontrate their lust for interesting sounds by mashing multiple genres together.

‘Mr Winter’ is a Portishead-esque track that is able to successfully seduce you into the soul of The Soundheads. This lead track produced some saliva in my cheek that had me thirsting for more. ‘Wasting Time’ will make you have fun where ever you stand in the world with it’s ‘happy feet’ beat. On ’Late Night’-Strayz, the duo’s musical producer, shows off his grooviness with an instrumental that only the most sophisticated rappers should rap on.  Jackie-O’s vocals on ‘Broken’ will leave you frustrated (in a good way) for more of her soulful passion.

I can’t give too much away, but I can say that there isn’t a single boring song on the album. Your favorite song will switch between all of them as time goes on. Each song will take you into a new sound zone because their sound isn’t classifiable to any specific genre.  Hmmm… does Swello sound like a good name for a genre?

I give it a 4 out of 5 Stars
